Oregon - Week 2

Week 2, Day 1 - 41 Degrees this morning. It's a bit chilly to be camping in Oregon in May. (Click on any photo to enlarge)

We started the day at a restaurant in Albany, Oregon named Roger's Restaurant. It was a busy place, but the people were all friendly. I recognized our waitress that had waited on us from a restaurant in Sweet Home 5 years ago; she said she remembered us too.

We searched out Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson, Oregon using AllTrails. This was a beautiful place with boardwalks and hiking trails. Taking a 1.4 mile walk we were able to identify several birds species using Merlin and some wildflowers using PictureThis.

Though not as many photos as other places, this was another special place that deserves its own page. https://travelingvtjs.blogspot.com/p/ankeny-national-wildlife-refuge.html

Day 2 - There's no written record of what we did today, it looks like we had a very busy day. Looking at the DayOne journal and Google Map history, I can make a good guess. We awoke with temperatures in the 40's again and went to breakfast at Randy's Main Street Coffee

We ventured to Thompson's Mills State Historic Site. This was a extremely interesting historic place and Julie and I really enjoyed the tour. This is another special place that deserves a separate page. https://travelingvtjs.blogspot.com/p/thompsons-mills-state-historic-site.html

After 9 cold mornings in a tent, sitting outside in the drizzle until 2PM, we head to Country Farm Cottage Airbnb in Lebanon, Oregon.

Later in the evening we went to Calapooia Brewing for dinner with family.

Day 3 - Awoke at AirBnb, 47 degrees outside, nice inside 😀.

This morning we found Kristi's 50's Cafe in Lebanon, Oregon. Both Kristi and her husband were really nice and we enjoyed the atmosphere and food.

After 9 days of camping we finally had to do some laundry. We found a really nice laundromat Corvallis Eco Laundry in Corvallis, Oregon.

Then we went out to lunch with friend, classmate & family Vicki at the food trucks at Tallman Brewing.

Day 4- We started the day at Kristi's 50's Cafe, then I dropped Julie off with her family and I went to play disc golf with friend Joe and his son at Willamette Park. I learned that disc golf is not the same as throwing frisbee. After, we ate lunch at Block 15 Brewing. Later, I picked up Julie and we went to Schmizza Public House with family.

Day 5 - Again, we started the day at Kristi's 50's Cafe, then ran errands, mailed some of our camping gear home (we decided, no more camping), then spent the day with family and ate dinner at The Barn at Hickory Station. Lots of food trucks, live music and good beer.

Day 6 - Packed up the car to go to our next Tree Top Studio Airbnb in Brownsville, Oregon. Then met Joe and Mara at the Sassy Onion in Salem, Oregon for breakfast.

After, Joe, Julie and I headed to Deepwood Museum & Gardens. We all enjoy history, architecture, and flowers so it was a interesting and educational place to visit.

This is another special place that deserves a separate page. To see more photos go to https://travelingvtjs.blogspot.com/p/deepwood-mansion-gardens.html.

Later, Julie and I walked in Pioneer Park near our Treetop Studio Airbnb.

Julie has a history with these tires. 😊

Went to Kirk's Ferry in Brownsville, OR with family for dinner. This will be our final night in this area.
